CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : THERMAL : Volunteers Search for Missing Plane

Forty volunteers in 22 airplanes searched in vain Thursday over the California and Arizona desert for a small plane carrying a 57-year-old Thousand Oaks pilot and his passenger. The search for William Crimmins and Lavonne DeSchpper, last seen Monday evening when they left an airport at Grand Junction, Colo., will continue today, according to Civic Air Patrol spokesman Ed Crankshaw.
