No Love for MTV: A Texas-based cable television company that operates services in six states doesn’t love its MTV. TCA of Tyler, Tex., is dropping MTV because it feels some of the music videos border on pornography. Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” and Cher’s “If I Could Hold Back Time” were cited as particular targets of subscriber complaints. The move has angered some customers who accuse the company of making moral decisions for adults, but others are pleased, saying they have long complained about sexually explicit videos. MTV, meanwhile, says the problem is not over content but over fees, which TCA flatly denies, insisting “it’s absolutely a content problem.”
