Aaron Gryder Injured in Spill at Meadowlands
Two jockeys were injured in a spill during the running of the seventh race Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
The accident occurred shortly after the start of the mile and 70-yard race when Highly Tuned, ridden by Aaron Gryder, and Bingo Dancer, with jockey Jorge Vargas, clipped heels and fell.
Both riders were taken by ambulance to Hackensack Medical Center for evaluation. Highly Tuned was destroyed, but Bingo Dancer was not seriously injured.
The race was declared a no contest when the remaining jockeys and horses were waved off to avoid the fallen riders.
