ANTELOPE VALLEY : Former Newspaper Executive Arrested

Share

An anonymous tip led Manhattan Beach police to arrest a co-owner and former executive of the Antelope Valley Press for failing to appear at a probation hearing, authorities said Wednesday.

Officers arrested William Odett at the Radisson Hotel in Manhattan Beach late Tuesday night, about an hour after a caller told police where he was staying, said Sgt. Vince Leone of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

Odett was convicted in December on a felony charge of possessing cocaine and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a firearm. The conviction follows an incident in May of last year in which Odett was accused of pointing a gun at a woman delivering a telephone directory to his Palmdale residence and ordering her off his property. At the time of that incident he was treasurer of the company that owns the Antelope Valley Press in Palmdale. Odett failed to appear at a mandatory probation hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on May 4.
