WHERE’S GEORGE?: It has been almost two years since George Michael’s “Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1”--and there’s still no “Vol. 2.” And the word is there won’t be any album by that title.
But all isn’t lost.
Three songs that had been intended for a dance collection will be released July 7 as part of “Red Hot + Dance,” which is designed to raise funds for AIDS research and patient care. They’re titled “Too Funky,” “Happy” and “Do You Really Want to Know.”
Besides those tracks, the album--a sequel to 1990’s heralded “Red Hot + Blue” benefit collection--will feature remixed versions of hits by various artists, including Madonna, Seal, Crystal Waters, EMF and Lisa Stansfield. A 98-minute video is due the same day.
“Crazy Man Dance,” a fourth new Michael song, will also be available as the second track on the new “Too Funky” single.
Meanwhile, Michael continues to stand by his decision not to appear in promotional videos for his music. The “Too Funky” clip features a bevy of gorgeous models, but no Michael. He was, however, behind the camera, co-directing.
