ART
Great Danes: Denmark’s minister of culture, Grethe Rostboll, will be at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art today to announce “The Golden Age of Danish Painting,” a major exhibition of about 100 works being loaned by Danish museums to introduce American audiences to the landscapes, marine views, cityscapes and portraits of Danish artists such as Jens Juel, Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg and Johan Thomas Lundbye. Most works, produced between 1780 and 1850, have never been seen in the United States and have only been shown twice outside Denmark--in London in 1984 and in Paris in 1985. The exhibition, co-organized by LACMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, will premiere at LACMA in October, 1993.
