Duarte : 3-Month Lease for RV Firm
In a move to recapture as much as $150,000 in lost sales tax revenue for the city this fiscal year, the Redevelopment Agency Tuesday unanimously approved a three-month lease agreement with an Irvine-based recreational vehicle dealership.
Concerned that the recent pullout of La Mesa RV Centers Inc. from the four-acre site on Central Avenue might rob city coffers of income already figured into this year’s budget, agency members approved a temporary lease agreement with Village RV.
Last November, when the agency agreed to sell the property to La Mesa, that business was expected to become one of the city’s largest sources of revenue. But bad economic times changed all that.
The lease with Village RV will extend from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31 and provide two 90-day extensions upon mutual agreement between the dealer and the agency.
