GARDEN GROVE LEAGUE FOOTBALL : Kennedy Wins Big; Forfeit Would Put Irish in Second Place

Share

Kennedy defeated Santiago, 35-6, in a Garden Grove League game Thursday night at Garden Grove High, apparently clinching second place in the league.

Earlier in the day, Kennedy officials were informed that the team would be granted a victory by forfeit because Garden Grove used an ineligible player during the Argonauts’ 33-0 victory Oct. 8. As a result, the Irish finished 5-1-1 in league, the team’s highest finish since joining the league in 1987.

“I feel for them (Garden Grove),” Kennedy Coach Mitch Olson said. “They have a quality program and to have to forfeit any game because of an oversight is unfortunate.”

Against Santiago, Araceion Mobley once again led the Irish attack, rushing for 121 yards in 15 carries and three touchdowns. It was the third consecutive game that Mobley, a senior, has scored three touchdowns.
