Andrei Roudenko’s 20-yard field goal, his first of the year, gave Whittier Christian a 19-16 victory over Yucca Valley Friday night in a first-round playoff game that was decided by the California tiebreaker rule.

Regulation ended in a 16-16 tie and Whittier won the toss for the tiebreaker. Yucca Valley got the ball on the Whittier Christian 10 and failed to score on its first three plays. On fourth down, quarterback Jeb Dougherty fumbled.

Whittier Christian then took over on the Yucca Valley 10, ran three running plays and gained no yards. Then Roudenko came on to hit the game-winner.
