Sampras Questionable for Wimbledon
Pete Sampras, the world’s top-ranked player and seeded No. 1 at Wimbledon, said Friday that he is suffering from a shoulder injury that makes him questionable for the tournament, which starts Monday.
Sampras, 21, was awaiting results of X-rays of the shoulder.
Neither Sampras nor a trainer would reveal which shoulder was injured or when the injury occurred.
Sampras, a semifinalist at Wimbledon last year, has also asked for a Tuesday first-round match to give him more time to recover.
