South Pasadena : Council Readopts B&B; Law

A South Pasadena couple is a step closer to opening a bed and breakfast in a neighborhood of single-family homes.

Russell and Lenore Butcher’s dream of turning the third floor of their 1887 home into a bed and breakfast was kept alive last week when the City Council readopted an ordinance allowing historic homes in neighborhoods of single-family homes to apply to be used for such purposes.

The Butchers say that when the regulations go into effect next month, they will apply for a bed-and-breakfast operating permit for their South Orange Avenue mansion.

Council members passed a similar ordinance earlier this year but decided to send it back to the planning commission after a commissioner was found to have had a conflict of interest when she voted for the measure in February.
