A Glendale burglary suspect was captured early Saturday after fleeing police along the Harbor Freeway, driving at speeds of more than 100 m.p.h., authorities said.

The episode began about 3:10 a.m. with a report of a break-in at a mobile phone business in the 1300 block of East Colorado Boulevard, Glendale Police Sgt. Jim Lowrey said.

Police spotted a man leaving the scene and pursued him, eventually onto the Harbor Freeway.

Racing down the freeway at more than 100 m.p.h., the man finally exited at Century Boulevard and continued along surface streets with three Glendale and two Los Angeles police cars in pursuit, Lowrey said. He crashed his car on 96th Street in Los Angeles and was captured after a short foot pursuit.

About $2,200 worth of mobile phones were found in the car of the suspect, Frank C. Reddings, 23, of Los Angeles, Lowrey said.

Reddings was treated for unspecified arm injuries and booked into Los Angeles County Jail on a burglary charge and outstanding warrants, according to Lowrey. He will be arraigned in Glendale on Tuesday.

“We had some good citizens who had witnessed this incident,” Lowrey said. “That’s how we were able to apprehend this person.”
