Council OKs Plans for 238 New Homes
Three development companies have been given the go-ahead to build more than 230 new homes in separate areas of Camarillo.
The City Council on Wednesday night approved a Spanish Hills Development Co. proposal to construct 89 single-family houses on a 51-acre parcel at Ponderosa and Earl Joseph drives.
The houses are proposed to be considerably smaller than other homes offered at the nearby Spanish Hills Golf and Country Club development. Houses in the new tract will not exceed 2,540 square feet.
The council also approved a proposal by Pardee Construction Co. to build 58 single-family houses on a 15-acre parcel at Adolfo Road and Mission Oaks Boulevard.
In both developments, the council agreed to change the parcel’s zoning from rural exclusive to residential planned development, allowing more dense development.
“Personally, I voted in favor of these developments because I think they work with the surrounding communities,” said Councilwoman Charlotte Craven.
The council gave its OK to the construction by Village Properties, Inc. of 91 single family homes on a 24-acre lot near Upland and Flynn roads in the city’s Pitts Ranch area. The development is contingent upon completion of the mile-long channelization of Calleguas Creek proposed by the Ventura County Flood Control Department.
