GARDEN GROVE : Luncheon Will Focus on Situation in Korea

A discussion of the current events on the Korean Peninsula will be the highlight of this year’s “friendship luncheon” hosted by the Garden Grove Sister City Assn. on Thursday at the Dragon Palace Restaurant.

Joyce Yoo, who recently graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a history major, will discuss “Understanding Korea--South and North,” focusing on how the death of North Korean leader Kim Il Sung could affect the relations of the two countries and the rest of the world.

Yoo will also talk about Korean culture and why Korean-American families put high emphasis on education. The talk and lunch take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 each.

The Korean American Assn. of Orange County, one of the largest Korean-American groups in California with more than 10,000 members, is co-hosting the event.

Ray Yong Choi, a master of the Autoharp, will provide the entertainment.

The Dragon Palace Restaurant is at 9848 Garden Grove Blvd.
