A 20-year-old man from Long Beach was pistol-whipped and shots were fired after an argument broke out at a “flyer party” at a home on Ethel Street, police said Sunday.

Police arrived at the home in the 10300 block of Ethel Street at 10:16 p.m. Saturday after receiving more than 30 emergency 911 calls prompted by the gunshots, said Sgt. John Avila of the Cypress Police Department.

Apparently no one was hit by the gunshots, but the Long Beach man, whom police did not identify, was taken to Los Alamitos Medical Center for treatment, Avila said.

Witnesses told police that about 100 people, mostly juveniles, attended the party and that the argument started in the back yard. Someone opened fire with a 9-millimeter handgun and at least one parked car was hit by a bullet, Avila said.

Police are looking for two male juveniles, possibly gang members, in connection with the incident, Avila said.
