Manual Arts 20, Belmont 0--Earwin Burton rushed for 135 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, to help lead the Toilers to a City 3-A first-round playoff win at Gardena High.
The Manual Arts defense, which held Belmont to 94 yards, stopped Belmont’s only scoring threat in the second quarter, when Damion Whitehurst intercepted George Rodriguez’s pass at the Toiler three-yard line.
Manual Arts reserve quarterback John Hildreth had five completions on six attempts for 55 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Timothy Boykin.
