ROUNDUP : Ulloa and Walker Lead CLU to Menlo Tournament Title
Cal Lutheran’s Dave Ulloa made 10 of 16 shots and finished with 22 points to lead the Kingsmen to a 56-55 victory over Menlo in the championship game of the Menlo basketball tournament Saturday.
Derrick Clark of Cal Lutheran (2-0) scored 19 points and was named most valuable player.
L.A. City College 72, Moorpark 71--Saipele Tuialii hit a 10-foot baseline jumper with three seconds left to give the visiting Cubs (5-0) a nonconference victory over the Raiders (2-1).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Canyons 109, Palomar 52--Kyetra Brown, Rebekah Cunnan and Carlissa Hamagaki each had 18 points to lead the Cougars (3-0) in a Mt. San Jacinto tournament second-round blowout.
Cal Lutheran 118, Simpson 41--Kelli McCaskill had 18 points and 13 rebounds and Evi Orologas added 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the host Regals (1-0).
Whittier 88, The Master’s 51--Kim De Vries had 17 points and 17 rebounds, but the Mustangs shot only 27%.
MEN’S SOCCER
The Master’s 6, Bartlesville (Okla.) Wesleyan 4--Paul Smith scored the tie-breaking goal in the 77th minute, leading the Mustangs (16-5-3) to third place in the National Christian College Athletic Assn. tournament in Cleveland, Tenn. Gustavo Durruty added an insurance goal in the 89th minute.
