Top County Baseball Teams Fall
Orange County’s second-, third- and fourth-ranked baseball teams lost in a flurry of upsets by unranked opponents Wednesday.
Kennedy’s Richard Sundstrom pitched a one-hitter as the Fighting Irish shut out No. 2 El Dorado, 10-0, in an Empire League game.
It was the first victory over the Golden Hawks (9-2, 3-1) in 10 years for Kennedy (7-4, 2-2).
Fullerton (4-5, 2-2) surprised third-ranked Sonora (8-1-1, 2-1-1), scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-5 Freeway League victory.
Corona del Mar beat No. 4 Irvine, 7-4, in a Sea View League game.
Chad Johnson had a home run, double, two RBIs and scored three runs and Myles Davis went three for four, with a run scored and two stolen bases for the Sea Kings (5-3-1, 2-2). Irvine is 8-2, 3-1.
Reuben Gulledge (1-0) gave up 10 hits and one earned run in 6 1/3 innings.
