Children’s Festival Scheduled Today
Between 5,000 and 6,000 spectators are expected today at the Anaheim Children’s Festival. The third annual event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Anaheim Koll Center on West Harbor Place between Lincoln Avenue and Broadway.
Opening the festival will be a parade led by Mickey Mouse and the California Gold Rush Band, which plays authentic brass instruments from the 1800s. Small American flags will be distributed to spectators before the parade.
Performances will be featured on two stages during the festival. Other performers will include the Occasional String Band, a ballet folklorico troupe and the Vesolo Selo folk dancers.
The event will also feature hands-on art activities, face-painting, paper-making, storytelling, a nature exhibit, carnival booths, a book mobile, an art mobile and food booths.
Admission is free to the festival, which is a project of the Anaheim Arts Council. Free parking is available next to the festival site.
