SIMI VALLEY : Code Enforcers to Visit Pet Violators

Share

Residents of Simi Valley’s Bridle Path neighborhood who own unruly cats, dogs or bunnies may soon be getting a visit from the city’s code enforcement officer.

The City Council on Monday agreed to crack down on residents in the equestrian neighborhood who violate city codes regarding domestic animals.

The council in February enacted a moratorium on code enforcement of rules regarding farm animals, including goats, turkeys and a controversial llama in the neighborhood.

The decision to temporarily halt enforcement of the codes was made after soon residents complained about a llama in the neighborhood. It is designed to give the city and homeowners time to come up with new regulations regarding the keeping of animals other than horses and household pets.

But the council on Monday decided that the moratorium does not include domestic animals.
