Fire Restrictions to Begin Tonight
With the wildfire season beginning, campers in Los Padres National Forest will no longer be able to build fires outside developed campsites.
Starting tonight, the National Forest Service is implementing restrictions for the historically high-risk months of September and October. No fires will be allowed beyond campsite perimeters, even with a California campfire permit.
Lanterns and portable stoves are exempt from the fire restrictions, but smoking is prohibited outside developed campsites.
Hunters are also reminded that steel-core bullets are illegal and can start fires. Only lead core bullets are permitted.
