In Brief
* * * Ozzy Osbourne, “Ozzmosis,” Epic. Underpinning Osbourne’s metal legacy is a mean pop streak. His best work (with and without Black Sabbath) hinges on epic melodies as much as hard-rock grit. His latest offering is no exception. Guitarist Zakk Wylde’s beefy flash and Osbourne’s telltale vocal wail mesh around a bevy of hooks from the tuneful grind of “Perry Mason” and “Thunder Underground” to the power-ballad sway of “Old L.A. Tonight.”
Albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (e x cellent).
