Roumain, Barnett Lead Waves to Victory over San Diego State
George Roumain had 22 kills and six digs and Kevin Barnett added 18 kills and seven digs to help visiting Pepperdine defeat San Diego State, 16-14, 11-15, 15-5, 4-15, 15-8, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match Tuesday.
Roumain had a .432 hitting percentage and Barnett hit. 400 for the Waves (8-5, 3-4 in league play), who hit .345. Barnett also had four aces.
Peter Kodacey had 15 kills, four digs and three blocks for Pepperdine. Chris Jacobson added eight kills and eight blocks for the Waves.
Lars Winter had 23 kills for the Aztecs (4-8, 2-6).
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Notre Dame d. Palmdale, 15-6, 15-9, 15-11--Bro’ Richmond had 13 kills and seven blocks for visiting Notre Dame in the nonleague season opener.
Doug Noonan added seven kills for the Knights.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Mission 5, Antelope Valley 2--Tony Pulido had three hits, including a triple and a home run, and drove in three runs for the Free Spirit (7-5) in a nonconference game at Antelope Valley.
Javier Lozano added a two-run single and Amador Solis (1-0) allowed six hits over seven innings.
