* Theaters: Toronto-based Cineplex Odeon Corp. said it raised $84.4 million to expand and grow by completing an offering of 25 million common shares of stock to the public. MCA Inc. also bought 24.2 million restricted voting shares, and the Charles R. Bronfman Trust bought 12.1 million common shares, raising a total of $50 million. Proceeds will be used to cut debt and to fund growth over three years. MCA owns 41.7% of Cineplex and the trust owns 20.4%. MCA is controlled by spirits and beverage giant Seagram Co., which is controlled by another wing of the Bronfman family.
