KINGS TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--Montreal Canadiens.

Site--Molson Centre, Montreal.

Time--4:30 PDT.

Radio--XTRA (690).

Records--Kings 1-1, Canadiens 0-0-2.

Record vs. Canadiens (1995-96)--1-1.

King update--Goaltender Stephane Fiset will make his third consecutive start. Fiset had a shutout in his King debut, then gave up seven goals in a 7-6 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, facing 38 shots. With the Kings playing three games in four days on the road, backup goaltender Byron Dafoe almost certainly will get the chance to make his first start of the season at some point. Five injured players remained home in Los Angeles--forwards Craig Johnson and Vitali Yachmenev and defensemen Steven Finn, Philippe Boucher and Jan Vopat.

Canadien update--Montreal has not lost to the Kings in a regular-season game in Montreal since Nov. 24, 1990, going 4-0-1 since then. Despite scoring nine goals in two games--including six in Monday’s tie against the Mighty Ducks--Montreal is still looking for its first victory of the season. Brian Savage, who scored 25 goals last season, had a hat trick against the Ducks. And Savage was flawless, taking only three shots in the game. How is the pressure in Montreal? After two ties, the fans are already booing defensemen Vladimir Malakhov and Patrice Brisebois.
