Unidentified Shooting Victim Clings to Life
An unidentified man in his 20s was shot early Tuesday in an incident that has provided few leads, police said.
The man, fighting for his life at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, was found lying in a carport near an alleyway at South Evergreen and Cedar streets about 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, said Santa Ana Police Sgt. Bob Clark.
Residents in the 1800 block of South Evergreen Street said they heard at least six shots and saw “a group of possible gang members running from the area,” Clark said.
Police have so far been unable to determine who the man is or why he was shot.
Clark said no one in the neighborhood had been able to identify the man by Tuesday afternoon, and no family members had come forward looking for him.
The man was in critical condition. One bullet had passed through his head, entering in the middle of his forehead. Others struck him in the groin, shoulder and upper torso.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Santa Ana police investigations at (714) 647-5163.
