TONIGHT
Opponent--New York Islanders.
Site--Pond of Anaheim.
Time--7:30.
Radio--KEZY-FM (95.9)
Records--Ducks 4-13-3, Islanders 4-8-6.
Record vs. Islanders--(1995-96) 1-1.
Duck update--This is a matchup of two of the NHL’s worst teams--and two of the league’s lowest payrolls. Paul Kariya returns tonight after sitting out two games because of a concussion, and newly acquired veteran Brian Bellows makes his debut. Guy Hebert is scheduled to start in goal.
Islander update--Center Bryan Smolinski, a player the Ducks wanted but were unable to trade for, is making his Islander debut. Smolinski signed a one-year contract for slightly less than $1 million after his rights were acquired from Pittsburgh Sunday. Defenseman Dennis Vaske, out because of a series of injuries, will play his first game since Nov. 22, 1995.
