Crystal Lake
At the end of California 39, 25 miles north of Azusa
Just below Angeles Crest is a well-watered, cedar- and pine-forested basin. It has no outlet, and thus gathers rainwater and snowmelt from the San Gabriel Mountains. The result of this geographical happenstance is Crystal Lake, the only natural lake in the San Gabriel Mountains and the only alpine lake in Los Angeles County.
