Burbank Airport

I was disturbed to see a headline in The Times that was a total distortion of the story it heralded: “Burbank Public Unity Over Airport Plan Crumbles” March 27. I don’t take issue with your story as much as with the misleading headline.

As I read the article, I realized that the public was never polled, nor was anyone affected by the airport’s planned expansion even asked what they felt. “Public unity” is not “crumbling.” All you did was query four former Burbank mayors and two former airport commissioners who had taken the Burbank City Council to task regarding airport expansion. If The Times had actually polled any of those affected by the increasing noise, curfew violations or pollution, you would realize that the public is more determined than ever to support Burbank Mayor Bill Wiggins, Vice Mayor Bob Kramer and the Burbank City Council in their endeavors to limit expansion.

If you want to poll the public, go right ahead--but don’t print false headlines.
