Brian Wilson and his daughters, Wilson Phillips’ Carnie and Wendy Wilson, have just finished work on an album that culminates their reunion after a long estrangement. The album, with the Beach Boys leader serving as executive producer and co-writing and performing on four songs, is due in August from Mercury. . . .
Bryan Ferry is in London, mixing a new album that features appearances by Dave Stewart, Robin Trower, Squeeze’s Chris Difford and Sneaker Pimps’ singer Kelli Dayton. A U.S. label and release date are to be determined. . . .
Laker center Shaquille O’Neal has recorded numbers for the soundtrack of his upcoming movie “Steel,” due in July. Tevin Campbell has also done a song for the accompanying album, with more musical performers to be added. . . .
Fiona Apple gave the angel wings she wore on her recent tour to the Hard Rock Cafes for display--but with the stipulation that Hard Rock donate $1,000 for each wing to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
