Storr’s Hot Streak Won’t Get Him Call

Don’t look for goaltender Jamie Storr to be back with the Kings over the next two weeks despite his 6-1-1 record with the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the International Hockey League.

With Stephane Fiset getting most of the starts, the Kings would like to see Storr start more games in the IHL while getting current backup Frederic Chabot more playing time.

“I’m not sure if we’re going to bring [Storr] back or not before Christmas,” General Manager Dave Taylor said. “I don’t know the time frame, but we would like to get Freddie in another game or two.

“Jamie has been playing well [with Long Beach]. . . . We’ve had some talks [among the King coaching staff] and we feel that he’ll be back soon.”

Taylor also said that the team has no current plan to recall right wing Vitali Yachmenev, who also is playing with the Ice Dogs.

“He’s also playing well with [Long Beach],” said Taylor about Yachmenev, who has five goals and 16 points in 16 games. “We know that if we need an offensive forward, he’s ready.”

For only the second time since he was recalled from the minors in October, forward Steve McKenna did not dress for a game when he was a healthy scratch against Pittsburgh. Right wing Sandy Moger and defenseman Doug Zmolek were the other scratches. . . . King players will deliver toys donated by fans to kids at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles today at 2 p.m.
