‘Platoon’ Director to Autograph Books
Movie director Oliver Stone will sign copies of his semi-autobiographical novel “A Child’s Night Dream” on Dec. 30 at an Ojai bookstore.
“This is a coup for us,” said Bobby Houston, owner of Local Hero bookstore and himself a former director. “He’s a major cultural figure. Oliver Stone is one of the top 10 most important directors in the world.”
The man behind such controversial films as “JFK” and “Natural Born Killers” will sign copies of his coming-of-age account, released earlier this year, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the arcade bookstore on Ojai Avenue.
The novel is what one might expect from Stone, Houston said.
“It’s witty and it’s fresh and, unfortunately, it’s a little bit experimental,” he said.
