2 Possible Witnesses Sought in Shooting
Police are searching for two men they believe witnessed the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old Santa Ana man earlier this week.
Isac Lagunas was driving in the 1000 block of South Minnie Street about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday when several shots were fired at him, police said.
Lagunas was hit at least once but managed to drive nearly two blocks before he crashed into a brick-and-wrought-iron fence on McFadden Avenue, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A few people told police that they saw at least two men jump out of the car and run away.
“We haven’t located them at this point,” Sgt. Bob Clark said of the passengers. “And we’re unsure what they were doing at the time of the shooting, or whether any of them were also injured in the incident.”
Lagunas is not a known gang member, but the shooting “sounds like a gang-type shooting,” Clark said.
“There doesn’t seem to have been an exchange of gunfire,” Clark added.
