Galaxy update--Having won a season-best three games in a row, interim Coach Octavio Zambrano’s squad will be almost at full strength. Striker Eduardo Hurtado is back from World Cup ’98 qualifying duty with Ecuador, but midfielder Chris Armas is sidelined for two games because of a left-ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. Winger Cobi Jones has four goals and five assists in his last nine games. “At the beginning of the season, we weren’t playing well,” Jones said, “but we’re playing with more freedom now. I think we’re playing our game and not worrying about what the other team is doing.” The Galaxy lost to Dallas in a shootout after a 1-1 tie at the Rose Bowl on April 26.

Burn update--Dallas is trailing the Kansas City Wizards by only a point for the Western Conference lead. Forward Dante Washington earned MLS player-of-the-week honors last weekend after scoring all three goals in the Burn’s 3-1 victory over the San Jose Clash and one in a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rapids. The 1992 U.S. Olympic team striker is the third-leading scorer in the league with nine goals and six assists. He and fellow forward Damian (eight goals, five assists) have formed a dangerous tandem, supported by Swiss playmaker Alain Sutter. Dallas is 6-3 at home. The Galaxy is 1-8 on the road.
