Workshop Planned for Future Journalists
Cal Lutheran University and the Ventura County Edition of the Los Angeles Times will for the second consecutive year sponsor a free interactive workshop for future journalists.
As many as 100 people may attend the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 4 on the Cal Lutheran campus, 60 W. Olsen Road.
“It’s geared for high school and community college students anywhere in the county,” said Linda Fulford, a Cal Lutheran spokeswoman. “But we certainly welcome people who are older than that and want a career change.”
Following a group session to open the workshop, sessions will be offered on news reporting, ethics and the 1st Amendment, advertising, desktop publishing and computers / technology in the newsroom.
A free lunch will follow the sessions.
Tours will be given at The Echo and KCLU-FM (88.3), Cal Lutheran’s student newspaper and National Public Radio-affiliated station.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. the day of the event. Call 493-3151 for reservations, which must be made by Monday.
