11 Community Groups to Split $37,800 Grant
The City Council has unanimously approved spending $37,800 to help support 11 community organizations.
Fourteen community groups requested money.
Council members Collene Campbell and John Greiner, who headed a subcommittee that reviewed the requests, said they looked at the amount of money sought, as well as the type of service provided to the community.
Of the 11 proposals selected, funding amounts ranged from $10,000 for the Camino Health Centers to $500 for South County Community Services Council. The local organizations include those that assist youth and seniors and provide counseling services.
In addition to the $37,800, the city provides $18,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley for after-school recreation and teen programs.
