Royal’s Levan, Thomas Combine on a No-Hitter

Jennifer Levan and Stephanie Thomas combined on a no-hitter and Royal High defeated Channel Islands, 3-0, in a Marmonte League softball game Thursday at Rancho Simi Community Park.

Levan struck out five in four innings and Thomas struck out six in three innings.

Rachel Alcorn had two hits and two runs batted in for Royal (5-7, 2-3 in league play).

Channel Islands is now 3-8, 0-4.

In other games:

Burbank 3, Burroughs 1--Stephanie Martinez’s sixth-inning single drove in Amanda Defusco and Nita Davies to snap a 1-1 tie in a Foothill League game at McCambridge Park in Burbank.

Martinez had two hits.

Burbank improved to 6-6, 1-1.

Olivia Sullivan scored on a single by Chantel Jimenez in the first inning for Burroughs (12-4, 0-2).

Village Christian 3, Escondido 0--Jaclyn Aranda had two hits and an RBI, and allowed two hits and struck out five in a Longhorn tournament game at San Diego.

Village Christian 8, San Diego 4--Sarah Wheeler hit a bases-loaded double in the first inning to spark Village Christian in the Longhorn tournament at San Diego.

Emilee Taritero had three hits and two RBIs for Village Christian (12-2).

Harvard-Westlake 4-2, Grove City (Ohio) 0-3--Corrie Roberts had two triples and a home run for host Harvard-Westlake (9-5) .

Fillmore 2, Oak Park 1--Melanie Shrock scored what proved to be the winning run on a flyout by Naomi Qualls in the fifth inning of a Tri-Valley League game at Valley View Park.

Fillmore improved to 6-3, 2-0.

Vivian Doan scored for Oak Park (4-6, 0-2) on an infield single by Cindy Verity.

La Reina 13, Carpinteria 0--Kristen Ward pitched a perfect game in a Tri-Valley League game at Carpinteria halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Ward (5-1) struck out five. She had three hits and two RBIs.

Aimee Thompson and Mackenzie Vandergeest each had two hits and scored three runs.

Right-fielder Stephanie Hyatt threw out a batter at first base in the third inning to preserve the perfect game.
