Boy, 2, Drowns in Backyard Pool
A 2-year-old boy drowned Sunday night after he apparently wandered away from his father and fell into a backyard pool in a suburban neighborhood near Palmdale, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg McHenry said the boy’s father was cleaning up a vacant home near Palmdale and lost track of his son for about 10 minutes. He went next door to look and found the boy floating face down in the pool at 7:50 p.m.
A neighbor tried to resuscitate the boy.
Paramedics took the boy to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center in Lancaster, where he was pronounced dead, McHenry said.
