Council Will Review Eli Home Permit

Share

The operating permit for a home for abused children and their mothers will be reviewed by the City Council today.

The city’s Planning Commission last month approved renewing the Eli Home’s operating permit for two more years, despite objections from neighbors.

Lorri Galloway, executive director of the year-old shelter, said the council will be asked to approve a permit with no time limit.

Eli Home officials had asked the Planning Commission to eliminate the time limit on the permit to avoid publicity and public hearings for each renewal request.

Some City Council members had asked to review permit modifications, which were approved by the Planning Commission in February.

The council will review the changes that include allowing Eli Home clients to park their vehicles on shelter property and to have visitors.

The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the council chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
