Three alleged gang members were charged with murder Monday in the shooting death of a woman who was gunned down while on a stroll with her husband in Huntington Park, according to the district attorney’s office.

Sergio Sanchez, 23, of Bell, Ricky Cruz Alvarez, 22, of Huntington Park, and David Humberto Sanchez, 25, of Ontario, remain in custody on $1 million bail, according to the district attorney’s office. The three men were arrested last week.

Rebecca Schlecht, 37, was two blocks from her home Aug. 2 when she was caught in cross-fire between two local gangs and shot in the chest.

According to police, gang members riding in a white van drove past the couple, made a U-turn, and then opened fire.

A complaint filed by Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Camacho Jr. alleges that Sanchez and Alvarez fired a handgun, though all three suspects are charged with murder, the district attorney’s office said.

Police are continuing their search for three other suspects.
