A Ticket to Ride at Disneyland Up Another $2

Continuing a pattern of price increases, Disneyland raised one-day admission costs this week by $2.

Entering the park costs adults $38, and kids $28, a 5.5% increase over last year’s single-day price. The price of a five-day pass for adults rose to $68 from $63 a year ago, while the children’s pass went up to $51 from $47.

The nation’s second-most popular theme park also said Southern California residents, both adults and children, can buy one-day tickets now through May 15 for $28 each. That “Resident Salute” promotion, which helps attract visitors during the slower winter months, also is $2 more.

There is no set formula for determining ticket prices, said Disneyland spokesman Tom Brocato. “We look at what we have to offer,” he said, “and the value of entertainment people are getting here.”

Attendance dipped by an estimated 5% last year to 14.2 million visitors, largely because there were no new attractions, and the highly hyped Light Magic Parade, a $20-million street show, failed to generate larger crowds, analysts said.
