The incident began when two deputies driving on Juanita Avenue near Cooper Road about 11 p.m. noticed a large group, which included minors, drinking alcohol. When deputies stopped to investigate, an unknown number of men in the crowd shouted and threw beer cans at the deputies, officials said.

Oxnard police officers came to the deputies’ aid.

Although most of the group fled on foot, officers arrested four men.

One deputy and suspect Olivares received minor injuries. The deputy did not require medical treatment, and Olivares was treated at Ventura County Medical Center and released.
