What Are You Drinking?
“I’ve had an awful lot of really terrific Oregon wines lately, but the one that really sticks out in my mind was a bottle of the 1995 Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir I tasted the other night. It wasn’t the reserve or the proprietor’s selection or anything like that--just the regular bottling and it only cost about $11 or $12. But it was perfect. It was like a good Santenay rather than a big grapey Burgundy, slightly austere and a little paler and drier, but it was beautiful and a completely knit-together wine.”
