* Film. “The Inferno of Susumu Hani,” a retrospective of the Japanese director’s films, will be presented at UCLA’s James Bridges Theater on Oct. 29 and Nov. 1. The program begins Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. with “Bad Boys” (“Furyo Shonen,” 1961), Hani’s first feature film about young delinquents in a reform school followed by “Children Hand in Hand” (“Te O Tsunagu Kora”) and a short documentary “Children in the Classroom” (“Kyoshitsu No Kodomatachi”). * Theater. The West Coast premiere of Martin McDonagh’s acclaimed Irish comedy “The Cripple of Inishmaan” opens Oct. 28 at the Geffen Playhouse, 10886 Le Conte Ave., Westwood. * Family. “Icee Bear” and “Chimpy” will greet guests arriving at the Los Angeles Zoo during “Boo at the Zoo,” Halloween celebration Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festivities include mask-making, safe treats and entertainment by the Jokesters and jugglers Terrell and Takako Hayes.
