Coroner’s Office Identifies Body Found by Hiker
Authorities on Wednesday identified a man whose body was found two days earlier along a rural road in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the man as Jay Marc Klein, 28, of Canoga Park, spokesman Scott Carrier said. The cause of death is yet to be determined, he said.
A hiker found Klein’s body Monday just off Mulholland Highway about a mile north of Kanan Road. Sheriff’s Department investigators said Klein appeared to have suffered trauma.
On Tuesday, police arrested Jeffrey Fecht, 40, of Panorama City, on suspicion of killing Klein. Fecht is being held at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station in lieu of $1 million bail, officials said.
