Santa Barbara 34, Channel Islands 16--Derryn Dixon had 140 yards in 20 carries and the host Dons (1-6) returned two interceptions for touchdowns in a nonleague game.

David Herrera of Channel Islands (2-5) was picked off in the first quarter by Gilbert Boynton, who returned it 37 yards for a 7-0 lead.

Santa Barbara’s Vicente Zaragoza later intercepted a Herrera pass and returned it 93 yards for a touchdown to give the Dons a 20-8 halftime lead.

Dixon, who led all rushers, had touchdown runs of nine and 49 yards. Channel Islands’ leading rusher was Robert Vorba, who gained 107 yards in 19 carries, including a one-yard touchdown.

Vorba completed two passes for 67 yards, connecting both times with Omar Ortega.

The Raiders gained 301 yards, 223 rushing.
