Windfall From Tobacco Suit
* Treasurer Moorlach is correct about the tobacco windfall.
We should not spend today something we haven’t received yet or what we might receive in the future.
It’s obvious the Board of Supervisors is still reading that now famous book titled “Investment Philosophy,” by former Treasurer Bob Citron, especially the chapter titled “Leveraging Up.”

* Re “Moorlach Wary of Plans to Spend Tobacco Windfall,” Oct. 18:
Your article regarding Orange County Treasurer John M.W. Moorlach’s problem with how to spend the $912-million piece of the tobacco suit supports Rush Limbaugh’s view that “these suits had nothing to do with health care problems.”
He added, “It’s all about getting money.”
Perhaps Orange County should return the money, since there are no plans to use the funds as intended.
