* Classical--The Ventura Chamber Music Festival, under the direction of Burns Taft and Gregory B. Smith, will return May 4-14 at various downtown venues. The theme for the sixth annual festival is “Living Treasures.” Program highlights include the Shanghai Quartet; “Jewels From the World of Dance,” presented by the Ventura Chamber Music Ensemble and the Channel Islands Ballet, guitarist Sharon Isbin, pianist Christopher O’Riley, tenor Jonathon Mack and pianist John Browning. In addition, conductor Paul Salamunovich will lead a performance with Ventura Master Chorale, Ventura Master Singers and the festival orchestra. * Historical--Students at the Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory will stage “The Oregon Trail” May 5 at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Scherr Forum, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. The play tells the story of the families taking the difficult journey west in 1848. Show time: 7:30 p.m. $10. 449-2787.

* Gardens--Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Garden Tour on May 6. The self-guided tour will feature seven gardens around the Ojai Valley area. * Voices--Los Robles Master Chorale will present two performances of its program “American Landscape” at Moorpark College Performing Arts Center, 7075 Campus Road.
