The fastest and most nimble fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders in Brea won awards for their agility and strength in the Brea Elementary School Olympics recently.

Students competed in track and field, softball and other events they had been preparing for since January.

Bill Crean, principal of Laurel Elementary School, said that as soon as students return from winter break, the annual track meet’s events are included in their physical education classes to help them get a leg up on their competitors.

Prizes were awarded to just a few students over the weekend, but everyone who participated will have a ribbon waiting for them at school next week.
