Smoke in Cabin Forces Delta Jet to Land in Phoenix
A Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Orange County made a precautionary landing in Arizona on Sunday after the crew detected smoke in the cabin, a Delta spokeswoman said. No one was hurt.
Flight 1281 was en route to John Wayne Airport when it made an unscheduled landing about 2:40 p.m. at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, about five hours after the plane left Atlanta, said Delta spokeswoman Jenny Dervin.
An inspection in Phoenix revealed that the smoke came from an electrical short-circuit in a coffee maker, Dervin said. She said the flight resumed after nearly an hour and a half.
